Nice guide scope

I have few other guide scopes, but the main advantage of the OAG besides of the price is that it is very lightweight. The focusing is extremely fine and smooth. By turning the lens by few mm, there is very litte change in the focus, so it can be focused very sharply.

Again, I will give my opinion on the OpenAstroTracker design and how it is implemented. It 's a great design and a lot of expertise is gone in to it. It uses state of the art technology, the electronics, the printed parts and of course digital cameras. Ten years ago, this was something you could only dream of! It has also the potential of a great educational program, but here it could be better organised. Some explanations, e.g. the Calibration and uploading of the firmware are confusing and not clear at all for beginners. And I am still looking for the printing files of the polar alignment pieces....where is the reference?
For me, as for most of us it is a hobby. It started in 1957 and since then I followed the course of the planets in the sky from Europe and the several tropical countries I used to live and work. Occasionally I employed a small telescope, but the lack of a drive and GoTo limited extensive use.
But now it comes all together: the OpenAstroTracker, my scientific digital photography and the fact that I have now an accessible flat rooftop on my house. I think the OpenAstroTracker came just in time for me!
